President of Middle Tennessee State University Visited Guangzhou University
In the afternoon of May 25th, a delegation led by Dr. Sidney A. McPhee, President of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), visited CIBT International College of Guangzhou University (GU) for a consulting meeting.
Kenrick Xu, Executive Dean of CIBT, extended warm welcome to the guests. After an introduction of the basic condition of GU and CIBT as well as the International Program for Undergraduate Student, he expressed gratefulness to the contribution President Sidney has made in the cooperation between GU and MTSU, and in a further communication of education between U.S and China. Taking internationalization as a significant strategy, GU is at pains to open up more communication and research cooperation with first-class foreign colleges. Kenrick Xu said he was looking forward to a more comprehensive cooperation such as on students and teacher exchange, research study, etc.
President Sidney, after visiting the teaching area and living area, spoke highly of the environment, praised GU as one of the best universities in China, and ascertained the role CIBT has been playing in the internationalization of GU. President Sidney also gave an introduction of the management and department structure of MTSU, and showed his expectation for further cooperation in International program.
After the meeting, President Sidney, accompanied by Dean President Kenrick Xu, gave a speech titled “How to become a successful international student in America” in the GLN classroom, in which he represented detailed information on application and admission of MTSU, and shared with students his view on China. The speech was ended with a series of pictures of his visit to China. Following was an interactive communication with the students.

About MTSU
Founded in 1911 as one of three state normal schools for teacher training, MTSU is now the oldest and largest public university in Middle Tennessee. There are more than 24.000 students in the university, among which 2,600 are graduate students. 1986, James McGill Buchanan became the first alumni of MTSU winning Nobel Prize.
